Affiliate Marketing What is it?

Affiliate Marketing What is it?

If you have a social media presence, a website, a YouTube channel, and A Blog then you can earn money from affiliates. I will try and explain what it is and how you can create a passive income but trust me after 5 years of being an Amazon Affiliate, I have earned less than $50. However, I am going to give it another go and share my experience with you here in my new Blog. It's 2022 and it seems that blogging can help you with this type of marketing if you follow some basic steps, so let's see what happens this time, wish me luck.

First of all, what is affiliate marketing in my words? I will use Amazon as our example as I believe it is the biggest affiliate currently.

Amazon one of the biggest online retailers sells thousands of products on its website and so many people around the globe use them at one time or another. For this example, let's use a computer monitor which I recently bought from Amazon here in the UK.

Now I saw this monitor on a review site and decided it was the one I wanted to buy so from the advert below I hit the buy it now button and because I am an Amazon Prime customer ***, I got free next-day delivery.

The review I read was from a blogger site, the guy had written a good review on the product and had a link to buy it from Amazon in his article Buy Monitor Now. The link once pressed took me to the product on Amazon and providing I paid within 24 hours the blogger receives a small commission from Amazon ( the commission comes from amazons profits and not from the customer) Now I was happy for him to get a kickback from my purchase because he had helped me find the product I wanted, it didn't cost me anything extra but Amazon lost a bit of their profit. The blogger was an affiliate of Amazon who gave him a link that he enters into any product he wants too.

Still confused, well the link above in Blue is now connected to my Amazon affiliate account because I have put my ID link behind it. So if you press the Blue link, it takes you to the Amazon page for the monitor and then if you purchase it I get a small commission from the sale. You can also put your link behind the picture and that's what I have done above with the monitor picture, again if you click the monitor picture it takes you to the Amazon page and so on.

So that is Amazon Affiliate in a nutshell a very basic nutshell. Affiliate Marketing is used by thousands of companies around the world, I don't blame them because having programmes like these set up gets them the all-important traffic to their products. They let guys like me do all the leg work which sends potential customers to their products, it all makes sense.

The next time you see a Youtuber or social media post talking about a product you will probably find a link in the description box below sending you to a product purchase page which in turn earns the reviewer a small commission. Just look under any Youtuber video and you should see a statement saying that they earn money from an affiliate.

This is a great way for you to support your favourite sites and channels by using their links.

On this site which is a website/blogging site you will find links on most pages, this is a way that any successful affiliate sales can help me pay for the site, You will find Amazon links, Agoda links and Transferwise links. Amazon seems to pay a few pennies for each sale, Agoda pays a small percentage if you book a hotel through the links and Transferwise pay you £10.00 if somebody signs up with them and makes a money transfer but you only get one payment for each new customer.

The best Affiliate I have ever had is Pacific Cross Health Insurance which I rightly advertise on this site as they are my provider and I highly recommend their insurance. Currently in my 4th year with them. They pay £20.00 for each new customer you bring to them.

There are I am sure a lot more affiliate programs out there that pay a lot more but are yet to find.

I also forgot to mention, the Amazon Affiliate Program as most programs are free to sign up so do take a look. Amazon also gives you a free shop front to use, here is mine - My Shop.

I hope this brief blog helps you understand this topic a little better and thank you for purchasing any products by clicking my links throughout this site, it really helps towards the site costs.

Here is a picture of my new Amazon Partner account and I will post a new photo of it in one month to show what has happened with hopefully some clicks and purchases made.

A quick thought for my tests below is 2 pictures with links in the pictures to my 2 books, if any of you wish to purchase either book just click the pictures and purchase through Amazon and they will give us some data and examples of what I earn from selling a book.

Life in the UK compared to Thailand

Life in the UK compared to Thailand The biggest differences have to do with the seasons, climate and vibe.  When you live in Thailand it takes about two years to get used to the heat and humidity, Our house is South of Bangkok and averages 31 degrees over the year. In summer it rises to 45 degrees and in the rainy season, it drops to about 28 degrees. Living in that heat wears you down and changes the way you spend your days, going out early in the morning and dodging into air-con rooms mid-afternoon.  Here in the UK, it's totally different as the temperatures are completely different and range from -5 degrees in the Winter to 30 degrees in the Summer.  This leads me to the seasons and if I am honest whilst living in Thailand, I really missed the four seasons in the UK. Thailand really only has two, the Summer and rainy seasons. This is something you really need to consider if you are thinking about moving to Thailand. One thing that is really a huge difference and I felt...

Thailand Hotels

Thailand Hotels This page will show you information about the hotels and whether I recommend them. You can click each picture which will then take you to the Agoda page for more information and give you current prices and availability. It might take me quite a while to fill this page as every hotel brings back a memory and that is a story in itself. Hyatt Regency Hotel Hua Hin My favourite hotel in Hua Hin. Buy or Rent a Condo in Thailand?

Buy or Rent a Condo in Thailand? A question or type of question I get a lot by email on a regular basis, do I buy or rent and if I buy, what do I buy. Then can I own a property in Thailand? Rather than go into a long discussion just have a look at these videos that I made for our YouTube channel.  This video has had over 70,000 views and hundreds of comments.  Another great video but to my surprise only got 22,000 views. A must-watch if you are serious about buying or building in Thailand. The subject of buying or building in Thailand must be the biggest topic for a foreigner thinking of retiring to Thailand at first and then of course the topic soon turns to Visas but that is another post.
